Signs it's time to book

  • A rash or itch that lasts more than a week or keeps coming back.
  • Ring-shaped itchy patches — possible fungal infection.
  • Acne that leaves marks or scars, or does not respond to home care.
  • Sudden or heavy hair fall, or bald patches.
  • A mole that changes, bleeds or looks different from others.
  • Patches of lighter or darker skin.
  • Nail changes such as thickening or discolouration.
  • Any genital sore, discharge or rash — confidential care is available.

Why not self-treat?

Many creams sold over the counter contain steroids. On fungal infections they can hide the symptoms for a while and then make the infection spread and resist treatment. A correct diagnosis saves time, money and skin damage.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in a dermatology consultation?

The doctor takes your history, examines the skin, hair or nails, advises tests only if needed, and gives you a clear treatment plan with follow-up.

This guide is general health information, not a diagnosis. Skin and hair conditions vary from person to person — please consult a dermatologist before starting any treatment or medicine.
